Two of them came in front of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and the third one went away. The two persons kept on standing before Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) for a while and then one of them found a place in the circle and sat there while the other sat behind the gathering, and the third one went away. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) finished his preaching, he said, \"Shall I tell you about these three persons? So he asked, \"Where is your cousin?\" She replied, \"There was something between us and he got angry with me and went out. He did not sleep (midday nap) in the house.\" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked a person to look for him. That person came and said, \"O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! He (Ali) is sleeping in the mosque.\" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went there and `Ali was lying. His upper body cover had fallen down to one side of his body and he was covered with dust. He went down the well, quenched his thirst and came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. He said to himself, \"This dog is suffering from thirst as I did.\" So, he went down the well again and filled his shoe with water and watered it. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him.
